Ms.Debbie

Ms.Debbie's role is that of Assistant Director and she takes care of the accounts and financial aspect of putting up a production of this sort. Since her school days, her work in plays has always been behind the scenes. She is always the one seeing to props, scenery and logistics. She loves doing this job. She found that the whole thing coming together was truly amazing. She was very pleased to see the commitment of all the students involved in the production. They have been working after school hours since the beginning of October and the commitment shown, to her is admirable. She never doubted that there was a lot of talent amongst the students; however she thinks that it is a wonderful experience to work together with other teachers, who have been offering their help in the various sections. She finds the huge team effort something wonderful to see.

Ms.Charmaine

Ms Charmaine directs a number of plays every year, and this year she is directing The Tempest. She edited Shakespeare’s script for this play, and also included a lot of mime, dance and singing, instead of large parts of speech. Ms Charmaine really likes seeing each group of children bringing their ideas and their versions to the play. She loves working with all the teachers and students, and thinks that it is very inspiring on a production. She thinks that there is a lot of talent at St. Dorothy’s and she is very happy to see it being developed and put on a show so that everyone would appreciate it. The costumes are amazing and she is sure that the play will be a wonderful, unforgettable show.

Ms.Leanne

Ms.Leanne is helping out with the singing along side Ms.Philippa. Right now she is studying the pieces which the choir will be singing. The choir will be staying in breaks and after school to brush up on all the beautiful songs which will be sang. Ms Leanne says “It is my pleasure to offer some help” Singing has always been Ms. Leanne’s passion; “ although in these last years it has been hidden’’. She sang both solos and as part of a choir. She also dances and acts and so has taken part in quite a number of shows, “Being able to integrate the major three disciplines is lovely’’.  Even though she has only started helping out recently she was always up to date with what was happening as she has been following the blog. Being so modest Ms.Leanne says, “It is an honour and relief as well. I'm so proud to teach such talented students and to be able to work with such dedicated colleagues’’. Ms.Leanne has been taking singing lessons for quite a number of years under the tuition of Chiara, Doreen Galea and Glen Vella. She has taken part in many festivals namely the Junior Eurovision and Showtime. An unforgettable experience she had was when taking part in Sfida because she was able to sing, act and dance all at once. She has never given formal singing lessons but always helped out someone who needed help in singing. Ms.Leanne concludes by saying “I feel so happy to be able to be in touch with the "singing world" again through such a nice initiative done in our school’’.

Kim Ellul Hawes- Prince Ferdinand

Kim has been in plays before, and so wanted to take part in the school play also. Although she did not really have a specific character in mind when she auditioned.
She was given the part of Prince Ferdinand and likes the character, although she did not mind any other part either. She says that she likes the character '‘because he’s rich’'
Kim stays after school to rehearse and thinks‘'it’s cool'’ , and likes it because it’s a nice experience and she does not really get stage fright.
She says '‘ I think the play is going to be a success.’'

Carla Engerer - Stephano

Carla has never taken part in any plays before, and she had auditioned just to try it out, and see how everything went. She didn’t take it all that seriously but she was very nervous nonetheless.
She said that when she was told about getting the part she was shocked because she didn’t think that she would get it. She loves her part ‘ because it’s funny and interesting and I’m that type of person. I don’t know how to keep serious, especially on stage.’

She finds her character really fun, and that he has no clue what he is doing most of the time.
Carla dedicates her whole life to sports,(mainly tennis and swimming) and never had time to start acting outside school. She feels quite confident with her part because ‘it’s very me’ although sometimes she feels a bit shy as well.
She commented that she feels extremely happy to be taking part in this event. ‘There is an extremely good vibe amongst the performers and I feel that the show is going to turn out to be
amazing.’

Etwinning Project

The Tempest is also going to be part of another project. A school in France is doing a similar project where they are going to incorporate music and drama to put up one of Shakespeare's play. We are therefore teaming up with the French school and a group of students will have the "job" of chatting and emailing the students of this school to talk and give advice and opinions. The French students will be putting up their production later on in the year and we will later on be able to upload videos of parts of the show so as to see the finished results for both the productions.

Some students have already shown an interest in the project and they will be given email addresses of a french boy or girl to correspond with during this time.
